Apache Roller: Make Entry Title A Hyperlink

Moving from blogspot to Roller, one of the items I missed is the hyperlink post titles.

These give readers an opportunity to go to the post permalink page when landing on a multi-post page.

These give readers an opportunity to go to the post permalink page when landing on a multi-post page.

When I installed this blog, I used the Basic theme, which does not hyperlink the entry title to the entry permalink page.

To make your post title a hyperlink to it's permalink page, go to the _day template and locate the following:

<p class="entryTitle">$entry.title</p>

Replace this with the following:

<p class="entryTitle"><a href="$url.entry($entry.anchor)" title="$entry.title">$entry.title</a></p>

One note: as I wanted to have keep my entry titles the original color I chose (#FF0000), I had to modify my CSS and add the following.

.entryTitle a {
    font-weight: bold;
    color: #990000!Important;
}

.entryTitle a:hover,a[href]:hover{background-color: #CC6600; color:#FFFFFF!Important;}

I'm new to Roller so maybe there was a simpler way of doing all of this. But it worked for me.

Hope it helps someone else as well.
